Reconnecting Families and Communities, a nonprofit dedicated to reconnecting families and communities, is pleased to announce the success of our most recent event, The Old and The New Benefit Concert." Held in June, the concert brought together individuals and organizations to support the improvement of music and audio equipment at Booker T Washington High School (BTW). The event was hosted by the Friends of BTW Committee and featured notable actor Clifton Davis and captivating performances by Connie Parker and Jessie Wagner.
The proceeds from the concert, amounting to an incredible $10,000, have been generously donated to BTW to aid in upgrading their music and audio facilities. This contribution will greatly enhance the learning experience and opportunities available to the talented students at the school.

Reconnecting Families and Communities also offers various workshops and programs, designed to empower and provide opportunities for the youth in our community. One such workshop is the healing with hip-hop program, facilitated by a mobile studio that comes to BTW to teach music engineering. Additionally, we offer workshops in podcasting and fashion designing, along with tutoring and business classes for the youth to further develop their skills and knowledge.
Looking ahead, we have a range of exciting events scheduled for the coming months. On August 13, we will be hosting a Youth Excursion Day at Kings Dominion. Underserved families and youth in the area will receive discounted tickets, free transportation, and free lunch as we aim to strengthen bonds and provide a day of relaxation and fun. In order to make this event possible, we are actively seeking sponsors to support us in covering the associated costs.
Furthermore, in September, we will be hosting a Back-to-School Supply Giveaway, ensuring that local students have the necessary supplies to start the new academic year on a positive note. Additionally, throughout the year, our Luggage and Love program provides small luggage items filled with throw blankets, hygiene products, and adorable teddy bears to children entering the foster care system, sparing them the use of trash bags to carry their belongings.
To make this year a truly successful one, we are seeking corporate sponsors and donors in the area who are passionate about supporting our mission of reconnecting families and communities. We believe that by working together, we can create a lasting impact on the lives of those in need.
